Clear aligners
Clear aligners are a series of clear plastic trays, each moving your teeth a little. They are for teens and adults whose teeth can be moved this way, which Dr. Goel decides after an exam.
You wear each tray most of the day and night and take it out to eat and brush. Aligners only work when you wear them, so Dr. Goel asks teens and parents to talk honestly about whether that will happen.
In short
Trays you take out to eat
A new tray on a schedule Dr. Goel sets
A check-in visit every 6 to 10 weeks

What happens, step by step
- 01
Step 1: The first visit
A talk, photos, a scan of your teeth and the options, with the plan and fee in writing.
- 02
Step 2: Your trays
The trays are made from the scan. You pick them up, learn to put them in and take them out, and get a case.
- 03
Step 3: Wearing them
You change trays on the schedule Dr. Goel gives you and come in for a check every few weeks.
- 04
Step 4: Retainers
When the last tray is done you get retainers, and wear them as Dr. Goel says.
Good to know before you start
Comfort
Aligners need no numbing. Your teeth may feel pressure for a few days after each new tray. You can take a tray out if it hurts and tell us.
Other options, and waiting
You could straighten teeth with braces, which don't depend on you remembering to wear them, or wait. Dr. Goel says which suits your teeth.
Risks and after-care
Trays worn too little don't move teeth. Drinking anything but water with trays in can stain them or your teeth. If you lose a tray, call us. Written after-care comes with your first set.
How it's billed
The fee covers the whole treatment, in writing before it starts. Many dental plans that pay for braces pay the same for aligners; the front desk checks yours.
How fees work
Questions about clear aligners
Do aligners work for everyone?
No. Some teeth and bites need braces. Dr. Goel tells you which fits yours.
Can I eat with them in?
No. You take them out to eat, and brush before you put them back.
What if I lose one?
Call us the same day. We'll tell you whether to go back a tray or order a new one.
Can I wear them to school?
Yes. Most people wear them all day and take them out for lunch.
