Questions
Questions we hear a lot
Do you take my insurance?
The fees page lists, by type of plan, what we do. Many dental plans pay part of orthodontic treatment, and some pay nothing. We call your plan before the visit and tell you what we learned.
What if we don't have insurance?
You pay the fee, which Dr. Goel gives you in writing before treatment starts. The front desk sets up how you pay it at the first visit.
Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?
The fees page says which kinds of plan we work with, Medicaid and CHIP included.
Will it hurt?
Putting braces on needs no numbing. Teeth are often sore for a few days after braces go on and after some adjustments. Dr. Goel tells you what helps, and you can ask for a break any time.
How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?
Dr. Goel decides when you need X-rays. Keep seeing your regular dentist for cleanings while you have braces.
Should I get braces or aligners?
It depends on your teeth and on how reliably you'd wear trays. Dr. Goel explains both at the first visit.
Do you see children, and from what age?
Most of our patients are teens, and we see adults too. If your child is younger and you wonder when to come in, call and ask.
What counts as a dental emergency, and what do I do first?
Swelling in your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a hard blow to the head needs an emergency room or 911. A loose wire or bracket usually can wait for a visit; call us and we'll say what to do.
Do you offer sedation?
No. Braces don't call for numbing, and if you're nervous, tell us and we'll go slowly.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. You get the plan and the fee in writing at the first visit, and you can take it home.
Do you speak Spanish?
Josselyn Nieves, our orthodontic assistant, speaks Spanish and English. Our website is in English.
How do I change or cancel a visit?
Call or text us as early as you can and we'll find another time. Kandice at the front desk handles it.
Still have a question?
Ask the front desk. We'll answer by phone, text or email.
